The Down Under International Games Tri-Nations Meet is a 3-day international competition with athletes from the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. The Tri-Nations Meet is in its 11th year and is the largest high school age international meet held in Australia each year. In 2012, the meet will take place at Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus with an opening and closing ceremony.The facility is an all-weather, synthetic track with electronic photo-finish timing. All competition equipment, with the exception of pole vault poles, will be supplied at the facility – poles may be rented but the specific length and weight required are subject to availability. Each participant may enter up to five events, plus relays.
Practices are scheduled in Australia before the Down Under International Games Tri-Nations Meet. The meet is open to age groups: 14/15 years, 16/17 years, and 18/19 years, and 20 years and older. Age groups are based on how old you will be on December 31, 2011.
Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 3000m Walk, 5000m Walk, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, *Pole Vault, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, *Hammer Throw; Hurdles: 90m, 100m, 110m, 200m, 300m, 400m, and the 2000m Steeple.
Medals will be presented to the top 3 competitors in all ‘Finals’ events. Medals and trophies will be presented throughout the competition and at the Down Under Sports Awards Dinner.
